462 pounds of marijuana seized in Omaha; officials put value at more than $2 million

Douglas County deputies seized 462 pounds of marijuana and hundreds of vials of hash oil from a California woman on Wednesday — their largest bust in recent years.

The marijuana appears to be high grade, officials said. They estimated the value of the marijuana at more than $2 million. The hash oil has an estimated street value of $21,000.

Douglas County Chief Deputy Sheriff Tom Wheeler called it a “top 10 bust” for the agency. The 31-year-old woman was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe that was pulling a U-Haul trailer. She was heading east on Interstate 80 near 108th Street about 1:10 p.m. Wednesday when deputies pulled her over for a traffic violation.

The deputy was suspicious and had his K-9, Fletch, walk around the vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle and trailer and found dozens of sealed plastic bags that contained the marijuana. They also found a duffel bag that had vials of hash oil in it.

The woman said she was traveling from California to Michigan. She has been booked on suspicion of possession with intent to deliver and failure to affix a tax stamp.
