LYNN HAVEN — Two people have been arrested after law enforcement officers intercepted approximately $16,000 worth of marijuana in the mail.
Linda Mae Harris, 61 of Lynn Haven, has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after the U.S. Postal Inspector and certified K9 with the Panama City Police Department flagged a package heading to her house as containing a controlled substance.
A controlled delivery was set up, and on March 1 Harris consented to opening the package in front of the postal inspector. Inside was in excess of three pounds of high grade marijuana, with an estimated value of about $12,000 and a large quantity of liquid-filled electronic cigarette tops, which are commonly used in the inhalation of liquid THC.
Harris told the officers her son, who lives in California, mailed her the package, according to the Lynn Haven police report. When she recieved similarly packages in the past, she told officers an “unknown subject” had picked them up.
The day before Harris’s arrest, Lynn Haven police arrested William Shane Northcutt, 36 of Lynn Haven, under similar circumstances.
The postal inspector and canine unit flagged a suspicious package set to be delivered to Northcutt. When he opened it in front of law enforcement, one pound of high grade marijuana, worth $4,000, was found inside, according to the press release.
Northcutt was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a church.
