8 Uses For Cannabis Oil You May Not Know About

8-Uses-For-Cannabis-Oil-You-May-Not-Know-About

Long before there was a scientific community, people knew that nature provides a cure for most illnesses. Not all of them were right nor do they all make sense to us now. The same will be said by future generations about us. Not everything we do works and sometimes the cures we use are worse than the illness.

However, many of the cures from our ancestors were effective and though changed in form, we use many of them today. Many of us believe for every illness, nature has a cure. We may not have associated the two yet, but we will.

There are many ancient cures that occur naturally, but I am going to focus on the Cannabis Plant. This plant in its natural form has been used for years by those wanting to get high. However, this federally Illegal substance, when the THC property is removed, is probably the plant with the highest medicinal qualities we have ever found. We could thus certainly advocate for it to be legal . It is important to know the “THC” can be removed, as this is the property that makes people high.

It is pretty well known that Cannabis can help cancer patients with nausea after chemo. The other commonly known benefits of Cannabis are the relief of convulsions, anxiety, and inflammation.

Let me tell you about some of the not so well known benefits of Cannabis Oil:

  • Cigarette Addiction – In a double-blind study of which 24 people participated they chose an inhaler with either a placebo or cannabis inside. Then every time they get the urge to smoke they used the inhaler. Reportedly the ones with the cannabis said they had a 40% less urge to want a cigarette than those with a placebo. Which, in essence, shows promise for a product in the future for those wanting or needing to “Kick their Habit” of cigarettes.
  • Acne– There were numerous studies done on cannabis oil and the lipids of the skin and reactions. Cannabis oil performs quite favorably and economically as an acne treatment.
  • Fibromyalgia – A 2011 study was done incorporating 56 participants with half of them using the cannabis and the other half a placebo. The 28 participants using the cannabis used different methods and had different dosing schedules. 54% smoked, 46% took it orally and 43% combined the two methods they also reported different time frames of consuming the drug.
  • Prions/Mad Cow Disease – In mice that were infected with a Prions type illness, which is a neurodegenerative disease, their lifespan was extended by one week with the use of cannabis oil. Considering the lifespan in the wild is typically one year and an indoor mouse about two years that could be huge in human years. In typical cases a human only lives about a year after contracting a Prions disease.
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) – Anyone who has ever had a traumatizing event in their life is subject to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It may be triggered years later by a current event or situation but make no mistake it is real, and the effects of it can be devastating. Cannabis oil has the ability in some patients to create some relief with its anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory qualities. When taken orally it slows down the system creating a calmer more stable environment in times of extreme stress.
  • Schizophrenia – In Germany 2012 a group of researchers set out to discover the effects of cannabis oil on schizophrenia patients as compared to the drug Amisulpride. The results showed both drugs were effective as a treatment for schizophrenia but the “short-side” profile of cannabis was much more favorable than the Amisulpride.
The last two conditions warrant a little more explanation, as they are some of the most common conditions that people seek medical cannabis for.

1) Chronic Pain

There are vast numbers of people today who suffer from chronic pain. People who are fighting other illnesses that there is nothing medically to be done. Like cancer, there may be drugs that could be helpful, but the side effects of the treatments prevent the patients from getting the full effects of the treatments that can help. This is a hurdle for the medical industry. People with illnesses like:

  • migraines and other other recurring headaches
  • injury of the back, hips, and necks
  • neurotherapy
  • crohn’s disease
  • eating disorders that cause vomiting
  • arthritis
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Muscular Sclerosis
  • stomach ulcers

The list could go on for pages.

2) Depression

Studies have shown that millions of people around the world suffer from some form of depression. 35% of those studied reported it affected their work and/or school.

Depression is an illness that cannot be cured. It can be managed, but finding the right formula to help a particular patient is difficult. Sometimes it take months to find the right medication or combination of drug to help. If you are the patient, this is a nightmare. You are taking drugs that sometimes have to be taken for weeks before you know if they will work or not. You are often given short term drugs to help you while you are waiting on the long-term drugs to have their full effect. These are drugs that are altering your brain chemicals. If the drug did not work, there is a process of weaning you off of that drug. You begin the process all over again. Imagine the frustration and fear this causes. All the while you are leaning on the short term anxiety medication, which is addictive. So, by the time your doctor finds the right combination of medication, you have an addiction or dependency on the short-term help and you have to be slowly weaned off of that.

If CBD can help you control the problems of finding an antidepressant that works, or provides the non-addictive short-term help the patient needs, it is a win/win situation.

More research is being done, but people are in pain, depressed and suicide rates are climbing. CBD oil and other forms of cannabis treatment should be as available to the public as the Oxy drugs were when chronic pain patients were handed them in excess.
