Gwyneth Paltrow has portrayed a wide range of characters on the big screen for years, but her latest project finds her telling her own story. In the debut issue of goop magazine, a physical iteration of Paltrow’s lifestyle and wellness blog of the same name, the celebrated actress offers a strong show of support for marijuana legalization and the utilization of the plant for healing.
“What’s really interesting to see, with all the legalization of marijuana happening, is how there’s evidence that it can be helpful in a medicinal sense for people. That it can really be an alternative pain management system, and, in some cases, helpful for depression.
“I think there is a lot of pushback against [medical marijuana], because I don’t think we can monetize it with the same kind of margin you can with an anti-anxiety pill that you get from behind the counter. But it’s incredible to see people who can’t sleep, or people who have chronic pain, report really positive results, and it’s a natural substance.”
Paltrow doesn’t just advocate medical marijuana for others to benefit from the versatile herb — she uses it herself, too.
“Oh, I’ve tried it, and yes, I inhaled!”
Gucci Mane released his highly-anticipated autobiography today, most of which was written during the almost three years he spent behind bars recently. Those its pages contain a treasure trove of stories, one from 2012 certainly stands out from the rest.
On the set of the James Franco and Selena Gomez-led “Spring Breakers,” Guwop became tired of smoking the piles of fake prop weed provided by the film crew and found some “strong.” But that wasn’t the only reason Gucci was fatigued, as he went on to explain.
“We were working 12-hour days, and then I was going out at night,” the adored Atlanta rapper explained in the New York Post’s Page Six. “The last scene I shot was my big sex [scene], and by that point I was exhausted. There had been pounds of this fake herbal weed on set, but that junk gave me a headache, so I stuck to smoking Kush.
“It was 4 in the morning, and even with these two naked b**ches on me – one was riding me while the other sucked my toes – I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I was knocked out, snoring… [Director] Harmony [Korine] kept having to wake me up for takes.”
He must have had some of that same OG Kush we just reviewed. But fear not, Gucci knows not to get too lost in the sauce.
He still picked up plenty of acting tips on set — besides avoiding Indicas before your most pivotal scene.
“I learned a lot watching Franco do his thing. The whole way he approached his character was super impressive,” added Mane.Legendary actress and singer Olivia Newton-John suffered a relapse of her breast cancer in May. The excruciating pain was so intense that she was unable to walk — let alone take the stage — causing her to cancel half of her tour. The debilitating pain was only subsided after the “Grease” star began utilizing a new method of therapeutic relief — medical marijuana.
“My husband’s a plant medicine man so he grew cannabis for me and made tinctures for me to take for pain and inflammation and so many other things that cannabis can do,” Olivia said in an interview with “60 Minutes.”
“It’s a magical miracle plant.”Netflix is gearing up to release a documentary showing a never-before-seen side of Lady Gaga, one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. The trailer for the upcoming film “Gaga: Five Foot Two” was recently released, and right in the middle we get a sneak peek of the singer’s smoking style.
As Gaga leads the camera crew to a vintage light blue Mercedes Benz sedan, she says, menacingly, “Let’s get stoned in Grandpa’s car,” signaling that no amount of money or extravagant life experience can replace the simple pleasures of an old-fashioned backseat hotbox.
As one season of great HBO entertainment comes to a fiery end, something great is always right around the corner. Two of the premium cable network’s elite-level comedies, Vice Principals and Curb Your Enthusiasm, have either started back up or are about to very soon (Curb returns Oct. 1).
Danny McBride, who stars in Vice Principals, went on Late Night with Seth Meyers recently to discuss, among other things, how far he’d come in his acting career.
While discussing his big break in Andy Samberg’s 2007 cult classic, “Hot Rod,” McBride admitted that the daredevil comedy represented the first time he received traditional compensation for his acting.
“This was the first film I had ever participated in where I wasn’t paid with a case of beer and a quarter of weed,” said the man also known as Kenny Powers.
An actor with McBride’s star power should at least be able to command a few pounds for his hilarious work, that’s ridiculous.
