Suspect to deputies 'I have some weed in my hair'

A Monroe woman is facing multiple charges after officers found drugs on her during a traffic stop Friday.

According to an arrest report for Freda L. Thomas, age 33, Burg Jones Lane, deputies stopped Thomas because the Tahoe she was driving had a switched license plate. Thomas was stopped in the 800 block of South Second.

Deputies said they smelled marijuana inside the vehicle and asked the suspect to exit the vehicle.

During an interview, the deputy asked if there were any illegal items or weapons on the suspect or in the vehicle, and Thomas reportedly said, “I have some weed in my hair.”

A search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded one plastic bag containing approximately 1/2 gram of suspected powder cocaine inside her wallet. Thomas admitted ownership of the cocaine.

During a search at Ouachita Correctional Center, a plastic bag containing approximately four grams of suspected marijuana was also found underneath the suspect’s wig.

A passenger in the vehicle, Patrice Bonner, age 28, Moore Avenue, was also booked on drug charges after she removed one bag containing approximately 1/2 gram of suspected powder cocaine from her pants.

Thomas is facing one count of possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance and possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance, first offense. Bail was set at $4,250, and the suspect has bonded out.

Bonner was booked on one count of possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance. Bail was set at $3,500, and the suspect bonded out.
