CBP Officers in Douglas Seize $156K in Marijuana

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas, Arizona, arrested a 34-year-old Mexican woman Tuesday when she attempted to enter the United States with more than 300 pounds of marijuana hidden throughout her Buick SUV.

CBP officers working with a narcotics-detection canine found numerous bundles of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle’s interior and exterior. Officers seized the drugs, worth an estimated $156,000, and vehicle. The driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
