Here Are Philly’s Future Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has announced the state’s first medical marijuana dispensary permits.

Four of the state’s 27 initial dispensary permits were issued for locations in Philly. Soon enough, you’ll be able to purchase medicinal cannabis (if you’re qualified, that is) in Fishtown, Northeast and Northwest Philadelphia.

Without further delay, the Philly dispensary names and addresses are:
  • Restore Integrative Wellness Center: 957-963 Frankford Ave., Fishtown
  • Holistic Pharma: 8900 Krewstown Rd., Northeast Philadelphia
  • TerraVida Holistic Centers: 8319-8325 Senton Ave., Northwest Philadelphia
  • PharmaCannis LIFE: 599 Franklin Mills Circle, Northeast Philadelphia

The locations are expected to operate in accordance with the state’s six-region medical marijuana program, which is expected to launch next year. Each of the 27 permittees can operate up to three dispensaries in one region, but the dispensaries cannot be located within the same county.

The state expects at least 52 dispensaries to open next year. Permittees now have six months to become certified by the state as operational – and then they can begin dispensing medical marijuana.

Several permits were also issued for locations in the suburbs – including six in Montgomery County, two in Chester County, three in Bucks County and two in Delaware County. You can find those locations here.

“This has been a highly competitive process and the department received hundreds of quality applications,” John Collins, Director of the Office of Medical Marijuana, said in a statement. “Once this program is fully operational, patients with serious medical conditions will have locations throughout the commonwealth where they can purchase medication to help in their treatment. We remain on track to provide medication to patients in 2018.”

State law allows patients with one or more of 17 qualified medical conditions (including epilepsy, cancer, seizure disorders or multiple sclerosis) to apply for a medical marijuana card.

Last week, the Pa. Department of Health announced the recipients of the state’s first 12 permits for medical marijuana growers. Two, Franklin Labs LLC and Prime Wellness of Pennsylvania, will operate out of Berks County.
