Iredell County narcotics officers intercepted packages of high-grade marijuana at two homes last week, Sheriff Darren Campbell said Monday. The marijuana had a street value of about $360,000, the sheriff said.
Investigators arrested 24-year-old Joshua Allen Arroyo after officers intercepted a package of marijuana delivered to his home in the 100 block of Watercrest Drive, off Shelton Avenue in south Statesville.
Investigators conducted surveillance on the home after receiving “credible and reliable information” that marijuana would be delivered there, Campbell said.
The package, found in a bedroom, had vacuum-sealed bags with 13 pounds of high-grade marijuana. Five more pounds in similar packaging was under a bed. The marijuana was valued at about $163,000, according to the sheriff.
Investigators also seized about $9,000 hidden in a jacket in a closet, Campbell said.
In a separate investigation at a home elsewhere in the county, officers intercepted a container with 22 pounds of high-grade marijuana valued at nearly $200,000, the sheriff said. Charges are expected against at least one person, he said.
