One of the first infused product manufacturers in Alaska has been forced to halt operationsbecause of an allegation it may have bypassed required lab testing for some of its edibles.
Fairbanks-based Frozen Budz on Monday was ordered to cease production when the state Marijuana Control Board suspended the company’s manufacturing license until the board can complete an investigation into the potency levels of its edibles, the Daily News-Miner reported.
The board also issued a consumer alert last week with a warning that products labeled as containing 5 milligrams of THC may actually be more potent than advertised.
Co-owner Destiny Neade denied that Frozen Budz skirted the state testing requirement and said the company would resume production as soon as the state investigation is concluded.
Erika McConnell, director of the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office, told the News-Miner she has “concerns about approximately 20 different types of products” and didn’t offer a timeline as to when Frozen Budz’s license suspension may be lifted.
Frozen Budz is the second Alaska MJ company to have its license suspended by state authorities, according to the newspaper.
