‘DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A DeFuniak Spring man was arrested for marijuana possession, although he told a deputy he doesn’t smoke weed.
A Walton County sheriff’s deputy came across a man sitting in his car with his headlights off in the parking lot of Fannin’s Restaurant. The business was closed for the night.
The deputy parked facing the driver’s door and could see the man staring straight ahead. The man opened his door and said he was out of gas. The deputy asked if he had someone to bring him gas, and he said yes.
In the report, the deputy said he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. He asked the man and his passenger to exit the vehicle, telling them he could smell marijuana. The man said, “I don’t smoke weed.”
The men complied and exited the vehicle, admitting there was some marijuana under the seat. The deputy searched the car and found marijuana, marijuana wax and a gun.
The man admitted to owning the marijuana and marijuana wax, and was arrested for possession under 20 grams.
