IPOH: A 15-year-old boy who claimed someone tried to force weed killer down his throat four days ago has now admitted he tried it of his own accord after finding a bottle of the substance in his school’s toilet.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Ali Tamby said the Form Three boy from a school in Buntong here claimed that he was in the toilet at about 10.45am on May 28 when someone sneaked up on him from behind, grabbed his hands and neck before pouring the substance into his mouth.
ACP Mohd Ali said the boy claimed that he managed to free himself and ran back to the classroom without getting a look at his alleged assailant.
“When he reached his classroom, he starting vomiting and a teacher immediately took him to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, where doctors confirmed the substance was weed killer.
“The boy’s statement was doubtful and the investigating officer questioned him again on May 30 where he confessed that no one forced him to drink the weed killer.
“He said that he found a bottle of the substance in the toilet and drank a bit of before throwing the bottle into a drain,” he added.
ACP Mohd Ali said the boy did not have family or personal issues, and did not have any enemies in school either.
“The case is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide.
“The boy was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition,” he added.
