Canada’s Prince of Pot has announced that he will be introducing his chain of illegal marijuana dispensaries in Montreal.
According to a mysterious tweet posted by marijuana legalization activist Marc Emery, he plans to bring his Cannabis Culture dispensary to Montreal.
The Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood will be the new home of not less than three dispensaries; this is according to two sources close to Emery.
“I’ve known (Emery) for some time and when he says something, he means business,” said Marc-Boris St-Maurice, who runs the Fondation Marijuana dispensary on St-Laurent Blvd. “He’s a bit of a cowboy when it comes to this stuff.”
Recreational users of over 19 years old are allowed into Emery’s chain of Cannabis Culture dispensaries.
This year, Emery has opened numerous dispensaries in places like Port Coquitlam, Hamilton B.C and Toronto. His dispensaries in Vancouver come with catchy named strains like Love Portion 1, Sticky Fingaz, Pink Death and Moby Dick.
Many of Emery’s businesses are in operation although police raided the Port Coquitlam, Hamilton and Toronto stores last summer and in November.
Emery has stated that he expects a backlash from the authorities in Montreal, going by his history with the law.
The dispensaries are expected to be opened in Amherst St. near Ontario St as well as St-Laurent Blvd. near Roy St., on Mont Royal Ave. near Papineau Ave, according to a report by La Presse.
Recreational marijuana remains illegal in Canada. However, a federal task force is studying how it will fulfill Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s promise to legalize and regulate marijuana.
Emery is a hardened marijuana advocate who seems to always cross with the law, even serving a four-year prison sentence in the US for selling cannabis seeds via an online platform. With this in mind, it doesn’t seem like he is stopping any time soon.
