As Canada moves towards a bolder, brighter future of marijuana reform for all adults, a fantastic trickle down effect is the creation of a robust event industry based on weed.
Three important events are coming up in the next two months that you should know about if you will be within a plane, train, or automobile ride away from Toronto.
Cannabiz Conference and Expo
First, we have the O Cannabiz Conference, brought to you by the same folks who produce the immensely popular Canadian Music Week. O Cannabiz happens the day after 420. The event is for patients, physicians, industry professionals, and pretty much anyone else who has a stake in the local or global marijuana market. The conference portion of the show is three days of workshops, guest speakers, and business lunches. Some of the speakers include Tim Cullen, the CEO of Colorado Harvest, Greg Engel, the CEO of Canadian LP OrganiGram, and singer/songwriter Melissa Etheridge who has her cannabis-based product company Etheridge Farms.
Jodie Emery, our Princess of Pot, will be opening the Women’s Breakfast and will no doubt talk about her recent legal troubles. Her former mega brand Cannabis Culture was also a sponsor, but has since been removed, as she was forced to leave the company by court order.
Along with the workshops and lectures, the Grand Ballroom at the Sheraton Center Toronto will have various exhibitors and booths, including paraphernalia companies, licensed producers, cannabis technology companies, and others.
Cannabis Life Conference
The Cannabis Life Conference is a two-day event on May 13 and 14th at the gorgeous Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto.
Some of the speakers at this event include retired NFL running back, Heisman Trophy Winner, and Marijuana.com contributing writer Ricky Williams, the aforementioned Jodie Emery, and Antuanette Gomez from Pleasure Peaks.
This event has a clear focus on cannabis as medicine and talks about the many ways one can apply cannabis to their healthy lifestyle.
Lift Cannabis Expo
Last, but not least, we have the Lift Cannabis Expo. This giant conference is taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from May 26-28. The Toronto-based event as well as its sister show in Vancouver are touted as the largest cannabis events in Canada.
This year, the exhibitor show floor has increased from 60,000 ft.² to 90,000 ft.², covering everything you can think of in the cannabis world. That includes glass makers, lighting companies, seed companies, cannabis lifestyle companies, licensed producers, dispensaries, and everything else related to weed. There are also various industry-leading speakers including Ricardo Baca, Dr. Paul Daeninick, Jacquie Miller, Chuck Rifici, with additional speakers to be announced.
These upcoming conferences are three of the many events resulting from the acceptance of cannabis as medicine, and the anticipation for the forthcoming adult-use open-market in Canada. The fact that these expos are all taking place at major venues, with respected individuals speaking freely about using marijuana, is a direct reflection of the fantastic times that we as Canadians now live in.
