Central AR Man Planning to Open NWA Medical Marijuana Cultivation Facility

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — A Central Arkansas man could soon be laying down roots for a medical marijuana cultivation facility in Northwest Arkansas.

Brian Faught is a business man — the president and CEO of AR-Canna.

“I own a company ‘Just Do the Right Thing,'” said Faught. “I sell a character education program to schools and a culture program to business.”

Now, the Jacksonville native is planning to head north, to Fayetteville, to open up a marijuana cultivation center.

“The medical marijuana commission made it clear they wanted to see the economic impact of this venture spread around the state as much as possible,” said Faught. “I thought that going to a different area would up my chances of getting the license to begin with.”

Last Tuesday, Fayetteville city council voted 7-to-1 to sell five acres of land to Faught for his facility.

“Great day, really,” said Faught. “The City of Fayetteville has been so good to work with.”

Faught’s plan calls for up to three 30,000 square-foot cultivation facilities and will be one of only five allowed in the state.

“I feel really good,” said Faught. “I’m excited about the industry.”

Faught said watching a friend battle cancer motivated him to get behind this new venture.

“I’ve watched him go through this and the treatment for the disease is killing him as much as the disease itself,” said Faught. “So, cannabis is a real medicinal relief for him it really gives him a sense of normalcy back in his life.”

While Faught knows more ground work needs to be laid before his facility is up and running, he’s ready for any challenges that may come his way.

“I just think it’s going to be a good opportunity,” said Faught.

Faught has to be approved for a cultivation license. Which should be available to him at the end of June. He hopes to have it completed by November.
