Commissioners, weed control authority host joint meeting

The Lincoln County commissioners and Weed Control Authority will host a joint meeting, including a public hearing, on April 2.

The meeting will allow commissioners and the authority to hear from the public regarding designation of yellow flag iris as weeds under the county Weed Control Program. Weed Superintendent Todd Herndon said the invasive species spreads quickly. It is already growing near rivers and canals from Birdwood Creek to Cody Park, he said. It is easy to control, he added.

The hearing will take place at 9:30 a.m. April 2 in the commissioners room of the Lincoln County Courthouse.

The board also entered into a pair of agreements. Commissioners approved an agreement for engineering services from TC Engineering regarding South Buffalo Road. Commissioners also approved an agreement for security forces at the courthouse provided by G4S Secure Solutions.

In other business, the board:

» Approved a right of way submitted by Great Plains Communications. Authorized Chairman Duane Deterding to sign county and city lottery license renewal applications for 2018-20.

» Received and filed the fee report submitted by Sheriff Jerome Kramer.

» Received and filed a return of sale of real property from a March 5 public tax sale.
