TOLEDO (WTOL) -To some, a video circulating Facebook showing a couple getting engaged in front of the Toledo Christmas Weed might look like a stunt, but for Ethan Holey and Danielle Culbreath, it’s the beginning of the next chapter of their five year relationship.
“It’s typical to do it at like the zoo, the lights go somewhere to do it or at a fancy restaurant, but we can do that whenever, he just wanted to do something different,” Holey said.
Holey said they were there donating canned goods and got caught up in the Christmas spirit, so why not have a memorable engagement?
“It was in between her birthday and Christmas, she was expecting something like that around then, but it was a curveball on a Friday night,” Holey said.
Now, that curveball has tens of thousands of views and the couple and their six-month-old daughter Kira have been getting well wishes from all over Toledo.
“They’re like this is lovely, it’s wonderful that he proposed to you there, I think this is the sweetest thing ever,” Culbreath said.
The couple aren’t the only ones who seem to think the Toledo Christmas Weed is something special that could only happen in this city.
“The Christmas Weed in general was a good idea, it really brought people together and I don’t know, it just brought something positive to our community that we needed,” Culbreath said.
And it brought them an engagement to remember.
