Washington, D.C. marijuana activist Adam Eidinger moved to Maryland to vote out Rep. Andy Harris in hopes of giving the nation’s capital control of its marijuana laws.
Eidinger moved to the district to campaign for Allison Galbraith to beat GOP Rep. Andy Harris.
Eidinger said he moved to Salisbury in an attempt to unseat Harris specifically because of marijuana, WTOP reported.
“The only reason I’m moving to the eastern shore of Maryland is Andy Harris. It’s political,” Eidinger said.
Eidinger specifically cited the fact that Harris supported a budget rider that restricts D.C.’s ability to further loosen restrictions on marijuana.
“We’re fed up, and there’s nothing left to do but simply move to his district and organize his district against him,” he said.
Eidinger tweeted a photo of himself registering to vote saying that the Maryland Republican told him that if Eidinger didn’t like the law, then he should move to a state.
“The same people who legalized marijuana in the District of Columbia are moving to Andy Harris’ district to take a stand and basically say we’re going to remove this member of Congress to make an example of him,” Eidinger said.
