A man and woman arrested on drug charges had four children in the car with them at the time of the bust.
On Friday, May 12, Master Deputy Andrew Rowland stopped a 2008 white Saturn with a Texas registration plate that had been placed in the rear window. The vehicle stop took place at the Rushco gas station located at U.S. 29 and Church Street in China Grove.
He stopped the vehicle for not having a tag light and for the improper placement of the registration plate, according to a report. Shortly after the vehicle stopped, Rowland called for an additional unit to respond because the driver was extremely anxious and nervous, law enforcement said.Rowland immediately smelled the odor of raw marijuana as he approached the car, according to a report. The occupants of the vehicle included a black female driver, a black male passenger and four small children in the back seat area. The female driver was identified as Tiodomira Caudillo of 116 W. Lafayette St. in Salisbury. The passenger was identified as Timothy Paul Wiseman Jr. of 408 N. Craige St. in Salisbury, law enforcement said.
Rowland checked the driver and passenger for warrants, the report said, and Wiseman had been entered in the state Crime Information Center for a federal warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon. A note on the entry said that he was armed and dangerous. He was also showing to be wanted out of Texas for a child support warrant, however they would not extradite, law enforcement said.
Wiseman was taken into custody without incident, according to a report. Due to the strong smell of marijuana, a search was conducted on the vehicle. During the search, a green canvas bag was located in the front passenger floor board area. Inside the bag, four pint-sized mason jars were located that were full of marijuana, the report said. Also inside the bag was a Tupperware bowl that also contained marijuana along with a grinder and two sets of digital scales, law enforcement said. There was also a large plastic bag that was located between the driver’s seat and console that also contained marijuana.
Wiseman is being held on the federal detainer and both Wiseman and Caudillo were charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell or distribute marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and child abuse.
They were placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $ 15,000 bond. The total weight of the marijuana was 236 grams.
