Rune Hoglund, 31, and Michelle Hallissey, 44, were arrested after flying in from Alicante, Spain, with £130,000 of the drug.
Leeds Crown Court heard that their cases had been intercepted and searched at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Hallissey’s bag contained 6kgs of skunk cannabis while Hoglund’s held another 7kgs of the same potent drug.
Carmel Pearson, for the prosecution, said the weed was worth a fortune on the streets.
The pair had denied ever knowing each other or travelling together despite their tickets being booked on the same credit card.
Hoglund, 31, and Hallissey, 44, pleaded guilty to being concerned in carrying prohibited goods.
Hallissey’s lawyer Lorraine Harris said the mum of three came from the south of England but lived in Spain with her partner and children.
She said Hallissey thought the case contained illegal cigarettes. The court heard Hoglund also had money worries and agreed to take the drugs for £500.
Jailing him for 22 months and Hallissey for 20 months, Judge Simon Phillips QC said: “You were both motivated, undoubtedly, by financial gain and that puts this case into a significant category.
“It is clear you were working together to import this quantity of skunk cannabis.”
