(WASHINGTON, D.C. – WINA) Local congressman Tom Garrett wants to reform the federal law that involves marijuana. The Buckingham County Republican says it’s time to let the states decide how they will regulate medical and recreational marijuana.
Voters in several states have approved the legalization of pot, but they are violating a federal law. Garrett is annoyed by what he calls the “unequal application of justice. He was once the Louisa County Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Garrett is part of a bipartisan group that supports marijuana reform. A Hawaii Democrat who’s a co-sponsor of Garrett’s legislation says the current arrangement is tearing families apart.
