Gov. Wolf: Pennsylvanians Aren’t Ready For Recreational Marijuana

Tom Wolf

Pennsylvanians aren’t ready for recreational marijuana. That’s sentiment of Governor Tom Wolf.

Wolf told the KDKA Radio Morning News the time is not right for the state to legalize marijuana for recreational use, “I don’t think the citizens of Pennsylvania are ready for it.”

“What we’ve done with medical marijuana is to fill a gap that existed in terms of doctors’ options for treating their patients,” he said.

As of August 1st, the state now allows dry leaf marijuana to be sold in medical dispensaries. Wolf said it seems to be something doctors want because it’s more efficient and less expensive for patients.

While the state is moving legalized medical marijuana forward with efforts to make it better, Wolf said we’re just not ready for recreational marijuana.
