Gun, Weed, Scale Found During Car Stop: Westlake Police

WESTLAKE, OH — Suspected marijuana, a loaded semi-automatic handgun and a digital scale were found when police stopped a car on I-90, near the Avon border. The driver is being charged for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana, along with other misdemeanor charges.

Police said they stopped a car on I-90 at about 12:30 p.m. for an equipment violation. The driver, a 22-year-old Euclid man, had three warrants for his arrest and a suspended license. There were three other people in the car and none of them had a valid license, police said.

Everyone in the car was taken out of the vehicle and questioned. Police then searched the car and found a loaded semi-automatic handgun, along with high capacity magazines, suspected marijuana, and a digital scale, Westlake Police said.

The driver told police he had hidden the gun in his car. He was charged with felony carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon under disability and possessing marijuana, along with various misdemeanor charges. The other people in the car were released without charges.
