Fishing soft-plastics in aquatic weeds has always been tricky, but a a new rig by Northland should make things a little less complicated. The Weed-Wedge is a weighted hook with a wedge-shaped head designed to deflect weeds as the soft-plastic lure — swim bait, worm’ Fluke, whatever — is retrieved through the grass.
A screw lock keeper can be inserted into the head of the plastic body and the hook can be buried (like a Texas-rigged hook) or pushed through and pressed against the upper edge of the bait for a weedless presentation. The weight along the shank of the hook serves as a keel to keep the bait horizontal as it glides through the vegetation.
