An Overland Park man was sentenced to prison Thursday in federal court for his role in a conspiracy to ship $3 million worth of marijuana to buyers in the Kansas City area, according to federal prosecutors.

Justin Polson, 29, was sentenced to five years without parole.

He received about 40 pounds of marijuana from a man in Colorado each month from June 2014 to May 2015, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri said in a release.

James Mack, 38, of Colorado was a co-defendant in the case and received the same sentence.

Both men had earlier pleaded guilty.

Polson had deposited about $3 million into Mack’s bank account as payment for the shipments.

Polson has forfeited to the government a 2007 Corvette and 2011 Camaro in a related civil case.

Mack has been ordered to forfeit $1.5 million to the government
