The largest marijuana company in Canada is calling out the Trudeau government for its proposed regulations around the production and packaging of cannabis products.
Overall, Canopy Growth is pleased with the suggested regulations put forward by the feds. But the company does have concerns with the possible restrictions on packaging and labelling.
The government is considering limitations on colours and logos, although it’s not as severe as the upcoming rules for tobacco. Nonetheless, Jordan Sinclair with Canopy suggests the vague restrictions may go too far.
Sinclair also isn’t pleased with the promise to slap tobacco-style warning labels on cannabis, claiming the health risks of marijuana are far less than products like cigarettes.
The company will be making a submission to the government as a part of the public consultation process, which runs until January 20.
