Man accused of dealing weed robbed in Janesville, police say

JANESVILLE

A Janesville man suspected of being a marijuana dealer was assaulted and robbed of his money and marijuana, but he chased the robbers and rammed his car into theirs, according to a criminal compcredit:laint filed in Rock County Court.

The incident occurred Feb. 5, starting in a fast-food parking lot on Milton Avenue in Janesville, according to the complaint.Rick J. Schroeder, 19, of 603 W. Sunny Lane, Janesville, admitted to police he drove to the parking lot to sell marijuana, but three men came up to his car, pounded on the windows and talked to him rudely, according to the complaint.

One of the men, Malik C. Walker, 21, of 3420 Amhurst Road, Janesville, reached through a broken rear window of the car, entered and took $1,100 and some marijuana from Schroeder, according to the complaint.

Schroeder grabbed the money from Walker, but Walker grabbed him by the throat, cutting off breathing and causing significant bruising, according to the complaint.

Walker is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 262 pounds, according to the complaint, while Schroeder is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weights 110 pounds.

Walker and the others who accosted Schroeder then got into another car driven by a woman. Schroeder tried to block their exit, but they escaped, according to the complaint.

Schroeder followed them to the 4000 block of Markham Road on the city’s southwest side, where he rammed his car into the rear of the other car and then sideswiped the other car, according to the complaint.

Schroeder got out and argued with the occupants of the other car, and that’s when someone called police.

Schroeder was charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession with intent to deliver less than 200 grams of marijuana, delivery of less than 200 grams of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

Schroeder has pleaded not guilty as his case progresses through Rock County Court.

Walker was charged Thursday with party to robbery by use of force. He was released on a signature bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 28.
