Marijuana edibles, cash seized from unlicensed dispensary

Marijuana, cash seized from unlicensed dispensary

Thousands of dollars in cash and about 800 marijuana edibles were seized from an unlicensed marijuana dispensary in Logan Heights Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers raided Downtown Wellness on Commercial Avenue about 9 a.m., San Diego police Lt. Matt Novak said.

In addition to money and edibles, about 2.5 pounds of pot were found. Two employees were arrested on suspicion of operating a business without a license and selling marijuana.

Since March 2016, 55 unlicensed marijuana dispensaries have been shut down, police said. Dozens of property owners and shop operators have been fined, charged, and prosecuted in connection with the businesses.

With only a few unlicensed dispensaries left, police and the city attorney’s office have turned their attention to marijuana delivery services, marijuana farmer’s markets and other illegal operations.
