Marijuana farm found in Danao; pegged at P2.8M

A MAN, believed to be a farmer who cultivated marijuana, was caught with P2.8 million worth of marijuana last Saturday in Barangay Langosig, Danao City. Police arrested Damian Cagang, 49, who hailed from Kalangawan, Asturias at 11:15 a.m. Cagang was caught during the uprooting of marijuana plants by the Danao City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Public Safety Company, Cebu Provincial Police Office and Regional Public Safety Battalion-7 in the area. The estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of the seized marijuana was P2,882,500. Reports from the community prompted the operatives to check the area where they discovered the plantation. Recovered on site were 13,800 fully grown marijuana plants, 980 marijuana stalks but burnt in the area due to bad weather and enemy threat, and 67 marijuana stalks placed in sacks used for evidence. Also confiscated from Cagang’s possession were trimmed marijuana leaves put inside a plastic bag, a bolo, a pail, scissors, and a dipper, all believed to be used in marijuana cultivation. (JOB)
