Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s portfolio of companies begins the new year with exciting international news. Two of our products from the Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ brand have been approved as registered medicines by the government in Paraguay.

THC-free RSHO-X™ and full-spectrum RSHO™ Blue Label CBD oils will now be available through pharmaceutical and medical distribution channels throughout the country, increasing patients’ ability to access these products.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus remarked on the news: “We are a company of firsts, and we are excited about this new historic milestone of being the first company to have a CBD product registered as a medicine in Paraguay.”

As part of our international expansion and our mission to increase access to cannabinoids like CBD for those who need it, Medical Marijuana, Inc. and our family of companies has worked with patients, doctors, government officials, and advocacy groups to open new markets to our CBD oil products. An important part of this expansion effort is getting our line of CBD oil products registered and approved as therapeutic products in countries around the world.

Paraguay’s official registration of Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s CBD hemp oil products marks the first time a country has registered our products as medicinal products. This registration of our products opens the ability for pharmacies and healthcare providers in Paraguay to distribute cannabis products to patients, increasing the reach of our CBD oil products.

Paraguay’s decision is part of a larger trend among international countries permitting the use of cannabinoids like CBD for therapeutic use when conventional medicines were deemed ineffective.

The story of CBD in Paraguay began in May of 2016 when RSHO™ became the first medical cannabis product approved and imported for use in Paraguay. This was the third time in a little over a year that RSHO™ was the first cannabis product approved in a Latin American country. Previously Brazil and Mexico had both approved the special import of RSHO™ CBD oil for patients with a doctor’s prescription in the country.

The first official import certificate for RSHO™ Blue Label Liquid was assigned to a 15 year old boy with an intractable form of epilepsy. Before this historic first import certificate, all forms of cannabis were banned in Paraguay, even for medical use, including hemp-based products.

This approval of RSHO™ opened the door to additional patients requesting access to RSHO™. Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s CBD hemp oil products have now been prescribed for over 100 citizens in Paraguay for medical indications that include cancer, pain, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and various other neurological diseases.

The recent registration of RSHO™ as a medicine creates a much needed alternative to traditional medical treatment options in Paraguay and expands access to more patients than ever before. With so many patients in need, Medical Marijuana, Inc. sees the registration of RSHO™ as a promising step for patients in Paraguay looking to access CBD.
