Nebraska sheriff's deputies seize marijuana worth more than $1.5 million in I-80 traffic stop

Seward County sheriff’s deputies seized suspected drugs with an estimated street value of more than $1.5 million in a traffic stop on Interstate 80 on Friday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old Port St. Lucie, Florida, man, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana over one pound and no drug tax stamp, according to a press release from the Seward County Sheriff’s Office.

The stop occurred about 11 a.m. Friday after a deputy observed an SUV that was speeding and following too closely.

During the stop, a deputy smelled an extremely strong marijuana odor. A K-9 was then used to search the vehicle, and 343 pounds of hydro marijuana and a half-pound of the high-potency marijuana derivative “shatter” were found.
