New West Summit and Minorities for Medical Marijuana Partner to Support Diversity in Cannabis

Oakland, CA October 9, 2017: New West Summit and Minorities for Medical Marijuana, Inc.(M4MM), are partnering together as M4MM provides outreach and education to support diversity and inclusion in cannabis. “We are thrilled to have M4MM as a partner to help support and highlight the wonderful advocacy work they are providing about public policy, health education, business development, and social reform in states with newly legalized marijuana laws,” said Jim McAlpine, New West Summit, Executive Director.

Roz McCarthy, Founder/CEO of Minorities for Medical Marijuana, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit advocacy, education, and outreach organization focused on fighting to pass sensible equity driven medical marijuana laws, started the organization in 2016 providing education and outreach to communities of color in Florida on the importance of voting yes for Florida’s Amendment 2. Over 70% of Florida voters overwhelmingly passed the Medical Marijuana Amendment and M4MM went on to write the legislative language which makes diversity planning a requirement for applicants who hope to participate in Florida’s medical marijuana program.

On Thursday Oct 12, 2017 M4MM will host their signature networking event DICE (Diversity in Cannabis Experience) Networking Mixer. The event which is sponsored by Liberty Health Sciences will be held at Tribe Oakland Event Space 3303 San Pablo Avenue Oakland, CA 94608 from 6:30p-9:00P. The City of Oakland will be in attendance to share updates and overview about their Equity Program. In addition, a question and answer round table discussion will be provided with insights and industry best practices shared from a panel of cannabis experts. New West Summit is providing all attendees with a complimentary pass to attend the New West Summit Cannabis Business Expo being held at the Oakland Marriott City Center, Oakland, CA October 13-15. “This networking event offers the residents of Oakland an opportunity to discuss outstanding issues, challenges, and barriers preventing entry into the cannabis industry. Black market sales which leads to arrest and incarceration is still a real issue in our community. M4MM will provide a forum for open dialogue about important issues such as decriminalization laws, business development, and healthcare education,” states Charles Frazier, COO, M4MM and native Oakland resident.
