Now Available: Medical Marijuana Applications

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News release) – Those planning to apply for licenses to operate medical marijuana cultivation facilities and dispensaries can access blank applications beginning today (Monday, June 19) and continuing throughout Summer 2017, the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (FDA) announced.
Under legislation adopted by the Arkansas General Assembly this year, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission is required to begin accepting applications for medical marijuana licenses on July 1. Blank applications and instructions for completing those applications are now being published in anticipation of the July 1 deadline.
“The applications will cover a lot of subjects and will require a lot of information from the applicants,” said Dr. Ronda Henry-Tillman, chairman of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission. “The goal is to have the best possible facilities here in Arkansas, and we’ve designed the applications to help us find the very best.”
The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment, which was adopted by voters in November, established the commission and required that it oversee the awarding of licenses for marijuana cultivation facilities and dispensaries. The commission has agreed to award five licenses for cultivation facilities and 32 licenses for dispensaries. Applications will be accepted from June 30 until Sept. 18. After that date, the commission will score applications and award licenses.
Members of the public who wish to access the applications can visit the commission’s website. Copies of the applications can also be obtained from Alcoholic Beverage Control Administration (ABC) at 1515 West 7th Street, Ste. 503, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201, or requested via email from MMCAdmin@dfa.arkansas.gov.
