Ohio State Highway Patrol Confiscates $60,000 in Marijuana, Pills From Car

What began as a routine traffic stop for improper signaling on the Ohio Turnpike, led to one of the larger recent drug busts in Summit County.

When Ohio State Highway Patrol first approached the pulled-over Chevy Impala, troopers caught a highly-concentrated whiff of marijuana. And while much of the country has legalized recreational marijuana — Ohio only recently allowed medical marijuana — the scent was enough for the troopers to have to investigate.

Incredibly, the search and seizure of the car yielded 22 pounds of weed and also prescription pills, enough to total about $60,000.

The two men in the car, both in their late 30s, are now at Summit County Jail facing drug-related felonies.
