FUFA Club Licensing committee is not yet convinced with the renovations done at the Barokoro grounds in Paidha, Zombo.
The pitch, home of Paidha Black Angels, was given a red light and the club ordered to find an alternative home at the beginning of the season.
The Angels temporarily shifted to Onduparaka’s Greenlight stadium as they embarked on renovations at their own home ground. They invited the Licensing committee for a second inspection Thursday last week.
The inspectors were impressed with the work put in so far but weren’t satisfied with the playing surface.
“Following the re-inspection done at your grounds on Friday 20th December, the club licensing Committee observed tremendous progress in uplifting the ground to the acceptable level,” FUFA CEO Edgar Watson commended the club’s efforts before delivering the bad news.
Weed
“However,” Watson added: “the playing grass turf which is a fundamental factor for the playing of football in the 1st division competition, was observed to be dominated by unwanted weed that needs to be removed before the ground is appropriate for use.”
Recommendation
“The Committee henceforth advices that the weed is removed and the natural grass be watered and given time to grow. The ground has therefore not yet been permitted to be used.”
Watson also revealed that the federation will pay stadium fee to Onduparaka such that the club can access the facility free of charge for their remaining home games.
