A string of marijuana dispensary burglaries in the last week has shaken the Denver Metro area according to Police, the latest taking place in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 10th.
Police responded to The Health Center on Colorado Boulevard, near Yale Avenue. Denver police report that an alarm at the dispensary was tripped at approximately 2:45 a.m. Police responded fairly quickly and were able to set up a perimeter. They awaited a special Metro Task force to arrive citing the safety of a 24-hour gym directly across the street.
The Taskforce breached the Health Center at approximately 3:30 a.m. with guns drawn and their K-9 Partners at their side. Unfortunately, no arrests were made at the time of their search of the premises. The police reported that some “broken glass” was found at the rear of the Health Center but declined to comment further on any missing items or cash.
Denver7 News spoke with the owners of the business shortly after the incident. While their media policy prohibits revealing sensitive information about their security, “the business is compliant with city and state regulations”. This would mean there would have to be at least one surveillance camera on the register as well as very entrance and exit.
This is ongoing, breaking news and will be updated when more information is available.
