A Canadian cannabis company announced on Thursday that it hired a pharmaceutical vet to be its new general counsel.
The Flowr Corp. has named Francesco Tallarico, formerly the chief legal officer of Concordia International Corp., as its new GC, effective Oct. 1. Tallarico will also serve as the company’s corporate secretary.
Vinay Tolia, the CEO of Flowr, said that he is excited to have Tallarico on the management team.
“He is an exceptional leader and lawyer and brings a wealth of experience that we expect will prove instrumental as we continue to execute on our strategic goals,” Tolia said in a statement.
Tallarico replaces David Miller as the company’s top lawyer. Miller has been the general counsel of Flowr since its inception in 2016. He will remain with the company as a member of the board of directors.
The hire announcement comes just one day after the company revealed a partnership with a new cannabis company, Brand Ace Valley. The partnership will include pre-rolled joints with marijuana grown by Flowr. The products are expected to be sold after Oct. 18 of this year, immediately after recreational marijuana use officially becomes legal in Canada.
Flowr also hit another big milestone recently—it became a publicly traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange in September.
“I am delighted to join a very talented and reputable management team at Flowr. This is a very exciting time in the cannabis space, and Flowr has positioned itself for tremendous growth opportunities. I truly believe that this team is positioned for great success,” Tallarico told Corporate Counsel in an email.
Aside from his in-house gig at Concordia, Tallarico has also worked as an associate at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin where he specialized in corporate finance, M&A and securities.
