SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A man said two people forced their way into his apartment, tied him up and stole cash, a phone and marijuana, according to a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office report.

It happened at an apartment in the 1000 block of Pinegate Drive on Oct. 5 around 1:45 a.m.

Google lists that address as Campus Edge Apartments.

The victim said two men forced their way into his apartments and robbed him. He said he had never seen the robbers before and they tied his hands with his own belt.

They stole $1,000 cash and his iPhone X, according to the man.

The deputy immediately noticed the strong odor of burned marijuana in the apartment, according to the report.

The deputy asked the man how much marijuana had been stolen.

The man said a quarter ounce, but later changed his story to closer to half an ounce. He also told the deputy he occasionally sells small amounts of marijuana.

The deputy told the man the robbery was clearly drug related and said they believed the man knew more than he as letting on.

The deputy said they would be glad to take the report and investigate, but if they found out he was lying and there was more to the story he was leaving out, then he could face criminal charges himself.

The man then said he didn’t want to pursue the matter or give a written statement.
