Smithfield Police Arrest Local Man on Marijuana Charges

On Monday, October 23, 2017, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Smithfield Police Detectives, executed a search warrant at 256 Putnam Pike and arrested Joseph Ricci, age 42, of 151 Old County Road, Smithfield. Upon learning of an unlawful marijuana grow at the Putnam Pike address, Detectives conducted an investigation, which led to them obtaining a search warrant for the commercial building.  Detectives seized 42 marijuana plants and 6 individual bags of marijuana, weighing over 1 kilogram total, a digital scale, packaging materials and growing equipment.On Monday, October 23, 2017, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Smithfield Police Detectives, executed a search warrant at 256 Putnam Pike and arrested Joseph Ricci, age 42, of 151 Old County Road, Smithfield. Mr. Ricci was taken into custody, without incident, and charged with Possession of Marijuana, 1 to 5 kilograms, and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.

Mr. Ricci appeared before the Honorable Judge Mary E. McCaffrey in Third District Court.  He was held without bail and is scheduled to be in court on November 6th, 2017, for a hearing on bail.
