Templeton Fire and Emergency Services are reminding home and property owners to prepare for 2019 weed abatement season.
The fire department says as the weather gets warmer, weeds become a more extreme fire hazard for the community, which is why it is important for people to start planning to remove weeds around their homes now.
They say a good rule of thumb is having all weeds removed by the end of April.
All properties in the Templeton Community Service District boundaries need to have all combustible vegetation such as dead leaves, weeds, brush and tree limbs cleared out by May 1 through November 30.
The fire department says recent rains could increase vegetation that could cause a potential fire when it dries, which is why they are telling people to plan ahead to clean out their weeds.
