Timeline of medical marijuana in Pennsylvania

n May 2015 — Pennsylvania Senate approved a bill to legalize medical marijuana in Pennsylvania. The bill passed 40-7 and moved onto the House for consideration.

n March 2016 — Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed the medical marijuana bill 149-43. The measure was sent back to Senate for concurrence.

n April 2016 — Gov. Tom Wolf signed the legislation, making medical marijuana legal.

n January 2017 — The state Department of Health makes available applications for medical marijuana growers/processors and dispensaries, with a March deadline.

n June 20, 2017 — The state Department of Health grants 12 growers/processors permits in 6 districts across the state. The two in the northeast region are Pennsylvania Medical Solutions LLC in Scranton and Standard Farms LLC in White Haven.
