The manner in which people in San Diego legally buy pot could change depending on the decision the City Council will vote on Tuesday.
The city council will have to decide whether to vote in recreational pot as well as the best services to deliver marijuana. As it stands, there are no clear guidelines regarding delivery by licensed dispensaries.
Ray Taylor; who runs The Healing Center marijuana dispensary located in Mission Valley, is a happy man after receiving this news. He is affectionately referred to as “Bad Grandpa.”
“We spent two years going through rules and regulations with the city so anyone else who wants to be in the cannabis industry should follow the same rules and regulations that we did,” Taylor said.
“Bad Grandpa” could see a boom in business if the regulations are passed. Taylor said that his dispensary cost him $1 million to start and it’s been open since March, 2016.
One owner also said that he is also looking forward to the new regulations getting approved. He said this during a NBC 7 talk with a delivery service.
“It’s just a matter of staying compliant and understanding what the city expects from a business such as this delivery service,” he said.
A concrete regulation for delivery services will give his business more clarity. Currently, he’s been working on getting his permit as a storefront.
