Wards River-Mammy Johnson River Rivercare had a lovely day at the recent weed whacking workshop in Stroud Road.
The workshop supported by MidCoast Council on Tuesday May 29, opened with a Welcome to Country and overview of Taree Indigenous Employment and Development (TIDE)’s bush regeneration and weed management work from Gloucester’s Glen Jonas.
There was also an update of strategic weed management and new weed threats from council’s Terry Inkson and plenty of practical bush regeneration advice and technical tips from Miles Dixon of Active Bush Works.
Wards River-Mammy Johnson River Rivercare group was pleased to host a well-attended workshop with, with 55 filling the Stroud Road hall.
Stroud Road Primary School joined the group for the field walk at the Mammy Johnson River Reserve.
The group is always on the lookout for volunteers with a love of bushcare, and have only a small active group at present and a big task looking after a precious remnant of Lowland Rainforest.
