WEED WILL BE LEGAL IN MICHIGAN NEXT WEEK

Recreational marijuana will be legal in Michigan next week.

In the November 6th election, Proposal 1 passed with a “yes” by 56 percent. Now, the Board of State Canvassers have sealed the deal by certifying the marijuana legalization initiative with a unanimous vote. Now, all that stands between Michiganders and their weed is just 10 days.

Under the state’s law, Prop 1 will take full effect on Thursday, December 6th. This means adults over the age of 21 will be able to consume marijuana legally — not just for medicinal purposes — in public or in the comfort of their own home.

Michigan still has a lot to figure out in terms of its newfound commercial marijuana industry. Business licenses will reportedly begin to be issued in December 2019.

Officials would like to make it clear, driving under the influence of marijuana is and will remain illegal.

Moving forward, 12/6 might feel more like 4/20 for Michiganders.
