As more states legalize cannabis, we see various ways that non-legalized states are building companies alongside the cannabis movement and industry. Well, Idaho is no exception as there is news from Boise about a shop called Welcomed Science CBD.
CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the most prevalent chemical compounds in the cannabis plant. Unlike the more famous molecule, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is completely nonpsychoactive.
This shop provides products that are dietary supplements designed to help maintain an effective, delicious, and affordable daily CBD regiment. We have done several stories about CBD, including our most recent articles about a very high testing CBD strain and a CBD beer, both created here in Oregon.
In states like Idaho where marijuana is still not legal, people have the ability to drive out of town to neighboring states to purchase CBD products or even order some of them online. CBD has proven to have many health benefits including relief from inflammation, pain, anxiety, and seizures, to name a few, and does so without the “stoned” effect of it’s cannabis sibling, THC. Sadly, though, CBD has still not been approved by the FDA for medical use.Business partners John Chaves and Michael Larsen are the owners of Welcome Science CBD. As reported by KITI Television in Boise:
“What we had to do was just find exactly the letter of the law and then make sure we were well in the confines of that,” explained Larsen.
They are working with a processor in California to isolate the CBD oil from industrial hemp stalk. The oil processed from the hemp does not contain THC, the psychoactive chemical found in marijuana.
“At the federal level, you’re allowed to have up to .3 percent THC in the CBD oil. Here in Idaho, we aren’t allowed to have any T.H.C,” explained Larsen.
They hope to open their doors for business in the next few weeks. They plan to offer a wide variety of products including CBD oils, infused water, and even, CBD treats for your pets.
