More than 60 pounds of marijuana and $110,000 in cash were seized by Indiana State Police investigators during a drug bust in Bloomington.
According to a news release, ISP Drug Enforcement Section investigators, Homeland Security and Ellettsville police officers arrested Eddie Baker Jr., 25, on Tuesday after searching his home in the 800 block of South Larkspur Lane in Bloomington.
Officials from the Drug Enforcement Section launched the investigation into drug activity in the area on Sept. 26 and found evidence that led them to Baker, police said.
After speaking to witnesses and collecting evidence, police requested a search warrant for Baker’s home. The warrant was executed Thursday, and that is when police said they found the drugs and cash.
Baker is now facing a felony charge of dealing in marijuana, police said. Formal charges against him in Monroe County are pending.
This is the second big drug bust for Central Indiana law enforcement within a week’s time. On Sept. 29, Indianapolis and Illinois police teamed up to arrest a Westfield man and seize 14 duffel bags carrying more than 300 pounds of marijuana that was headed for Carmel and Indianapolis.
During the operation to arrest Ronald Fowlkes, 45, police also seized two luxury vehicles and $25,000. The investigation began when Illinois troopers stopped a shipment of marijuana heading to Indianapolis, police said.
