CUMBERLAND — A traffic stop by a Cumberland Police officer late Thursday resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer.
Raen Smith, 18, of Cumberland, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police said.
Smith was a passenger in a vehicle stopped around 10:20 p.m. for spinning its tires on Henderson Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was not identified.
Police said an odor of marijuana in the vehicle led to a search, and Smith was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana packaged in individual baggies. Police estimated its street value at $2,000 and said an unspecified amount of U.S. currency was also recovered.
Smith was released pending trial on his personal recognizance by a district court commissioner.
