OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Homeowners in a southwest Omaha neighborhood don’t like what they see on a neighbor’s property, and it’s not just them complaining.
A front yard tribute to nature’s beauty has grown into an eyesore.
Jon Blumenthal lives in Armbrust Acres, and as the homeowners association attorney, he says property values are being hurt by one neighbors’ neglected landscape.
”I’d hardly call this an English garden. I’d call it an American weed pit. We’ve tried to reach out and they won’t accept any help. I’m sure the neighbors would be willing to help them do it, to help them clean it up and they won’t accept any help,” said Blumenthal.
But a city violation notice can’t be ignored. The property owner has been notified that weeds and volunteer trees must be cut, and trash and debris removed.
It’s 10 days past the deadline, so the city will soon clean up the property and bill the owner, listed as a woman who neighbors say has two young adult children living at home.
No one answered the front door when 6 News knocked, but Six on Your Side did get an answer on the phone.
What sounded like a young man called out to his mother but then said she was not home.
City Weeds and Litter has the property on its cleanup list, possibly for this week.
