LANSING, MI – The Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation is forming five stakeholder work groups to provide policy suggestions on a new law that will license medical marijuana dispensaries in Michigan.
A series of medical marijuana changes passed into law last year aimed to clear up legal gray areas within the original law, which voters initiated in 2008. And part of the package specifically authorized medical marijuana dispensaries.
The Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation, housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, is working with the five-member Medical Marijuana Licensing Board to come up with and implement regulations for the growth, processing, transport and other aspects of medical marijuana.
The bureau is forming five work groups: grower, processor, safety compliance facility, provisioning center and secure transporter.
Those interested in participating should mail the following information to LARA-MedicalMarihuana@michigan.gov with the subject line “WORK GROUP.”
- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The name of the individual interested in participating and his or her contact information including mailing address, email address and phone number.
- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Which one of the five work groups the individual would like to participate in.
- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The individual’s occupation, job title, and employer or organization.
- Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A brief explanation of no more than 150 words detailing the individual’s qualifications for inclusion in the stakeholder work group. No attachments should be included.
The deadline to request to participate in a work group is Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m. Rosters of participants selected to participate in each group will be announced Sept. 12.
