TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – Almost a quarter of a million dollars worth of marijuana was seized last week after a woman picked up a package filled with it from the Nettleton Post Office.
Angel Herndon of Nettleton was arrested at the post office by Lee County deputies and North Mississippi narcotic agents. She was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (trafficking).
The charges will be enhanced due to the post office being near a school.
Along with the marijuana, officers also seized a 2010 Chevrolet Impala.
In total, officers seized approximately 20 pounds of weed.
Investigators say the package came from a state in which marijuana is legal. However, specifics about the precise sender are unknown.
